South Tyneside Pothole Compensation Claim

A compensation claim has been launched by a mother from South Tyneside after her daughter was injured as a result of tripping over a pothole. The mother raised the compensation claim after he daughter tripped on her way home from school. Donna Taylor, aged thirty three and a single mum, from Biddick Hall in South Shields has revealed that her daughter was left significantly injured by the fall. Her daughter, eight year old Levy, suffered from serious bruising and a swelling. This injury was caused despite South Tyneside Council being informed that there were numerous potholes that required remedial action. It is being claimed that the council was negligent in not rectifying the problem. Ms Taylor is now seeking compensation from the council as they failed to rectify the pothole problems and this resulted in her daughter becoming injured. The claimant has revealed that she was in shock when she discovered that he daughter had been found by a friend lying on the ground being attended to by an ambulance crew. It emerged that Ms Taylor first thought that her daughter ma have been in a road traffic accident but she later found it was the potholes. Residents in the area had already expressed their concern about the eight large pot holes that were located in the area, all of which required filling in. Legal representatives for the claimant stated that the injuries could have been much worse and the council was negligent on the basis that the potholes were not filled. The responsible council has confirmed that a compensation claim has been received relating to this case.
